Affiliate Marketing
Course
Ok, so if you are reading this article you
are either new to affiliate marketing or struggling to
understand the concept. In this short affiliate
marketing course I am going to give you a brief
overview of things that you need to do to become a
successful affiliate.
There is a lot of
money to be made through affiliate marketing, and on some
affiliate programs, the affiliates are actually making
more money through commission then the merchant is making
overall through the sale.
The first thing
you need to do is understand in this affiliate marketing
course is what affiliate marketing is:
The top and bottom
of it is “selling other peoples stuff” this is commonly
referred to as the acronym SOPS. What happens is a
merchant will allow you to become an affiliate if you own
your own website (blog site in some cases). The merchant
will then give you (the affiliate) an affiliate link to
put on your website, in which case if someone clicks to
view the merchants website through this link and
consequently purchases a product you will get paid a
commission (which varies on each
product).
The Merchant could
be selling physical goods (Amazon), digital goods
(guides, eBooks, etc), Memberships (dating websites),
this list could go on. If you are just starting out, in
fact even if you are fairly advanced I would recommend
selling digital products; this is because the commission
on these products is that much better. This is due to the
fact that the overheads are so much lower because
everything is automated apart from the
content.
The way this works
out for the merchant is that it basically gets good
advertising, they will tend to get a lot more sales due
to the fact that affiliates are actually doing their
market research for them. If there are 20 affiliates
promoting 1 product you can bet that they are all doing
something different to utilize their affiliate link
therefore making the merchant 20 times more likely to
make a sale.
The question i
always get asked in my affiliate marketing course
is how much is this going to cost to set
up?
Well to be honest
you can do this for free using a wordpress blog, having
said that you probably won’t get very good sales doing
this. I would have to recommend buying your own domain
and even if you have no clue about internet websites you
can install wordpress onto your webpage. Doing this just
means that it looks a lot more professional and more
people are likely to stick around and read the content of
your website, it can also speed up the time taken to
progress up the Google page rankings (meaning more
traffic to your website). It is possible to buy a .com
domain for roughly $10, I tend to buy my own domains from
“GoDaddy”.
If you do go down
the route of buying your own domain, you will also need
to purchase “hosting”. Hosting is somewhere that you can
park your domain, you are buying some web space (to put
it in real life context: when you park your car in a
public car park, many of these
charge an amount for certain times you
are paying for a space for that allotted time). I tend to
use “HostGator” their pricing is extremely reasonable
ranging from roughly $5 p/m (not a great deal for the
return in affiliate marketing you could be
making).
